It is raining cats and dogs in Concord (pronounced conquered btw). I need to get a rain coat and some boots...My umbrella works but its impossible to carry that my bag, whatever random crap doesnt fit in my bag and my morning drink all in my two hands...Maybe I should get one of those dorky hats with the umbrellas attached...And as my Contracts professor already has informed us nothing can make us dorkier than being law students. Unless you collected pepsi points the first time around and bought the leather jacket...(yes I collect the points but I've never gotten a leather jacket with them so I don't fall in this category and nothing you can say will change that!) He brought this up when we were discussing Leonard v. Pepsi Co from 1999 where someone sent in 700,000 dollars to pepsi in order to obtain 7 million pepsi points in order to get the 7 million point Harrier Jet from the tv ad. Apparently a student from Pierce Law collected points back then and actually had the pepsi leather jacket that the court talks about in the case and Johnny O (Contracts Prof) informed us that that was way dorkier than being a law student. I think getting free stuff is way less dorky than being a law student but I am not the professor and therefore my opinion does not count...(okay thats not really true, Johnny O. actually is really nice and probably does care what others think)
I was talking to other students this week and the topic of gunner came up. (A gunner is someone who always has their hand up in lecture but never has anything relevant to add to the discussion) My favorite person in the whole world is known as a gunner, not only in my section, but in the other 1L section as well! Apparently she is the talk of the school and I am not the only person who finds the puppet woman comlpetely annoying. One of the girls in the group said that gunners in general should be paying everyone at least 20 bucks per class for the time wasted by their questions so that we dont have to pay for a legal education that we aren't recieving. I thought this was an interesting idea and decided to find out how much I am actually paying per hour to be here.
I attend class for 14 hours a week and there are 15 weeks in the semester so that means I am paying for at least 210 hours of class (Our tuition probably covers all the pay for the T.A's too but I didn't include those because it is not required to attend the sessions)
So that means if I am paying 17650 a semester in tuition, I am actually paying around 85 dollars per hour of class. So while I agree that the gunners should be giving refunds for their pointless contributions I think they should be giving a lot more than 20 bucks back. I think it is the only fair way to handle the situation and if I lacked tactfullness I would present a bill to anyone who wasted my time.
The gunners act like the professor is his or her own private tutor during class and it is more than annoying. It is borderline rude. In my research class, the t.a asked us if we were able to log onto the website in order to follow along or if he needed to wait and because the internet is beyond slow in that room some of us were having trouble getting the site to load. The gunner loudly stated to the t.a that she was going to follow along with him (his computer was projected in the front of the room) and so he didn't need to wait. I wanted to tell her that she wasn't the only one in the class and I might have let something slip out of my mouth along the lines of "we still havent gotten the site to load" but I am only human and can't handle the constant entitlement.
My tolerance of people has gotten better...I can handle talking to the whiners, I can handle the people need to have their hand held, I can even tolerate most gunners... Its just when you put all those qualities into the same person and added a generally annoying voice and personality that I can't deal.
And for anyone who has read this far you get to hear my exciting news! I got a 9/10 on my legal writing memo and the class average was only an 8.4 so I rock!

Way to go on your legal writing memo! Good luck on your contracts midterm. I would be totally annoyed with the puppet woman, too!
It is definitely annoying to deal with her. I think I might be getting kind of obsessed though...hehe
The chronic coughing girl is pretty bad too. I have been here for six weeks and she has been coughing the entire time. She coughed during orientation and she has coughed every day since. I even heard another person refer to her as the coughing girl.
