Week 3

So law school is actually getting harder now.  I have to read and understand what I read and then spit back the information in class when I am randomly called on.   I think I will do fine as long as I outline all of my classes.

Civ Pro-
I know what I am supposed to be learning in this class!  That is very exciting. The Civil Rules of Federal Procedure are what we are supposed to learn and how to apply them.  The class is going to be much easier now.

Contracts-
Probably one of the easier classes so far.  I seem to understand everything I need on one read through of the material which makes life so much easier for me.  Plus the professor sends out something at the end of every class that outlines what we learned in class.  It is very nice and makes the learning go faster.

Torts-
Right now its the worst class but only because I don't have the concepts memorized.  I need to outline the first chapter and keep outlining as I go in order to really start getting the concepts into my head.  I usually learn by memorizing and then spitting it back out but I don't usually start the memorizing part until the night before an exam..Law school wont work that way and this class will be much harder if I don't get organized now...

Legal Skills-
My favorite part of legal skills is the writing section.  Mostly becasue I had a classmate read over my memo and she told me that it was really good and that I hit on everything I needed to.  I feel very good about how I am doing with that class.  The research section is pretty easy too.  It is really dumb right now though, we are learning how to use the library and online resources to find cases, laws, and secondary sources.   If you grew up using the internet and have ever used a library then this is pointless.  I know how to do a natural language search and I know how to boolean search (which takes all of 5 minutes to learn.)

All of my classes are stepping it up though for how much material I am responsible for each day.  Thursdays are the worst day because I have three classes and I have contracts back to back (Wed. and Thursday)  Things are coming along and I am sure that I will still want to be a lawyer when this is all over and done with so thats a good thing.  I am starting to want to be a litigator though.  (Think a district attorney)  I think actually getting in a court room and having all the pressure and excitement will be exciting.  Intellectual Property is also a possibility though.  Just having a degree from this school in IP puts you ahead of the game.  (Pierce is ranked top 5 for IP in the nation)

Well the loud girls from my last post (see Library Rant) are gone and I should get back to torts...I have an actual assignment due and not just a case brief in that class on Tuesday.

Hi Alie! It sounds like you're doing pretty well with your classes. Good luck with Torts! Glad the loud girls left...I hope you don't have to deal with them anymore :D
