week 12

I know I say it all the time but wow I can not believe how fast the time is going.   I have about a month left until I come home which means finals are going to be here in just a few weeks.

I went to JIVE last night.  It is the annual talent show at school.  If I go next year I need a better seat.  I chose to sit near the back and close to where the beer table was because I didn't think that it would matter...boy was I wrong.  Over half the people there used the time to socialize and not pay attention and of course where do people socialize?  Near the drink and food area where I was sitting.  I couldn't hear some of the acts which was really annoying and there were even microphones so I should have been able to hear.  The best acts (of the ones I could hear) were the ones roasting the Dean.  He spoke at the Democratic Convention but kept getting bumped so there was one skit where they show him getting prepared to speak and the guy who was checking in the speakers told him that he was pushed back to the next day and when the next day came he was told he was pushed back again and this time behind a guy who had a cat that said "obama."  It was a lot funnier I guess if you really understood the back story...There was a clip that some students put together that was a fake interview with the Dean and in that they doctored his speech from the convention to say that he had spent his entire life up to this point as a broad and that he was going to be the next president of the US.  I hope they put it on You Tube because it was hysterical.  The main band was called "The Tortfeasors"  which if you were in Law School is pretty funny too.  From what I understand its the main band at Franklin Pierce and the members just change when one student graduates.  They were really good though so I have to wonder if they play at other events or just practice a lot...Either way they were a good cover band.    The final act was making fun of how the school is going to change its name (possibly)  There are tons of names floating around and a few students think the school should be The University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce Intellectual Property Law Center Law school.  Well thats not really what they want it to be but that is what they were making fun of at the show.

After the show there was an after party at the Concord Grill which I had been to with my parents but didn't realize thats what the name was.  I went and got to see the Concord night life for the first time...Luckily there were FPLC people there or it would have been awful.  I don't think I would ever go back alone but maybe if a group of people were going I would join in....

HI, Alie!
Thank you for explaining the background so we could enjoy the fun of the entertainment you went to see. Great to hear that you are getting out to do something besides studying. You ought to get to know other parts of Law School life, too. Keep up the good work!
Love, Nancy & Gary :) :)
