I had an exam on Saturday and I think it went well. It was emailed to me at 8:30 and when I got up at 9 it was sitting in my inbox waiting for me. I figured that it would take me until 4:30 (when it was due) to finish so I planned on skipping eating lunch and just hammering down. I ended up getting done by 1:30 and had time to take a break from it for an hour before I looked at it again to make sure it was polished. People are talking about it already which I think is against the honor code. But honestly EVERYTHING is against the honor code. It is probably against the honor code for me to think bad thoughts. Actually it is probably against the honor code for me to even think. But from what I have overheard, people spent the entire time working on it and that they thought it was hard. I did not find it difficult. I thought the hard part was putting pen to paper...or fingers to keyboard (I typed it). I knew what I wanted to say, I even knew what I had to say but having it come out right and make sense was hard. Hopefully I am not overly optimistic and actually did do well on it.
Ohh I am starting to remember what happened last week...I got my Contracts exam back! I did average which is right where I thought I would be. I put the usual Alie effort into it and got the Alie result that I was expecting. I have to put more effort into preparing for the final and I should be able to do that just fine. It was out of 60 points and the highest score was a 59 and the lowest was a 13...How anyone could get a 13 I will never know. As per school policy the average grade has to be a B which is what I got. It is nice that there is a curve because it means I didn't get a C but in a class where everyone does really well it is bad because the average grade could actually be an A but have to be reported as a B anyway. (this only applies to classes with more than 15 students) It doesn't make sense but I also don't think it would ever happen. There will always be a weak link...Just as long as I am never the weak link its all good.
I started wearing my complaint free bracelet again (www.acomplaintfreeworld.org). I realized that I was joining in on the complaint bandwagon all the time and I guess it hit me that I have more productive ways to spend my time. No one has asked me about it or mentioned it so I don't think that they know what it is. Thats fine though because I really would prefer not to listen to people tell me that it would be impossible for them to go a month without complaining. I already know that I can't completely stop complaining but as long as I am more aware of it (the bracelet is a CONSTANT reminder) I will do it less. When I was doing this before I found myself very aware of when I was complaining and it really helped to make it happen less. If anyone is interested in participating let me know. I will order bracelets or you can do it yourself on the website. I have also heard about people wearing rubberbands on their wrists and snapping them when they complained. Similar concept but more painful.
I will try to remember more about this week so next week's post is more interesting...

Hi, Alie!
Your complaint bracelet sounds like such a good idea. I wish more people would use something like that. It would be so much more pleasant when one is in a group.
We are in KY at Ft. Knox military campground. It has WiFi, but NO cell phone or HDTV reception. Gary disconnected our HD box so we could use the antenna. Could watch videos, but we want to hear the news.
Spent this sunny, cool day walking around Bernheim Forest just south of Louisville, KY, looking for birds and enjoying hiking in the oak/maple/hickory forest on the knobs, ridges and hollows.
Going to a plantation home tomorrow where they grew hemp with the help of 60 slaves! Some Lincoln exhibits also since 2009 will be the centennial of Abe Lincoln's birth. Just learned that! Lincoln was a close family friend of the Speeds who owned the plantation.
Hang in there on you studies and exams!! Your mother sent me the photo of Suzanne and Erik's wedding - so handsome and pretty and happy!! She also sent us some chocolate chip cookies for driving snacks. Ummmm good!
Love, Nancy & Gary :) :)
